page 03 | My sanity is questionable (but the books are great!).
The books I mean to read, the ones my friends already finished, what I’m adding to cart, and my latest Pinterest obsessions.
My sanity has been called into question.
May, in the world of an elementary assistant principal, is what you might call wild. It’s event after event, and absolutely everyone is hanging on by a thread. The kids? Over it. Me? Also very over it. So naturally, I thought…why not add selling my house to the mix? When life feels like a dumpster fire, why not throw a few more things in.
In the spirit of embracing the chaos, this month’s newsletter is a little bit about a lot of things. I’ll be revealing just a tiny sampling of the many books I’ve bought but haven’t read (don’t judge me), what I’ve been watching and shopping for lately, and a few of my favorite home decor trends…because as with any good house hunter I’m currently deep into the world of all things paint swatches and Pinterest boards.
I’ve seen the posts. People proudly announcing how many unread books are on their physical TBR, tracking their progress, and updating the world on how many they’ve finally checked off. I love the energy.
But you won’t be getting one of those posts from me.
Why? Because the number of unread books I own is a mystery best left unsolved. It’s between me and the man upstairs. Honestly, I don’t even want to know.
That said, I will give you a tiny peek into the chaos: here are a few of the books I’ve bought or received recently... and still haven’t read.
So many good romances sitting on my TBR shelf! Have you read any of these? Which ones should I move to the top of the list?
No shortage of summer thrills over here! Are any of these mysteries on your TBR?
2025 has been the year of great fiction for me! So I’m really looking forward to these! Any you would recommend?
As you can see I have a lot of great reading in my future. Summer is always my best reading season so we will see how quick I can move these from the TBR cart to the actual shelf!
If you too would like to add these books to your never ending TBR here’s a heads up! If you grab something through this Amazon link, I might earn a tiny commission.
Selling and buying a home after 16 years in the same place has been a lot…exciting, yes, but definitely stressful too. To balance the chaos of paperwork and packing, I’ve been leaning into the fun part: dreaming up cozy corners and fresh spaces for our next chapter. Naturally, that means falling deep into Pinterest rabbit holes. Here are a few of my favorite Pinterest inspo boards.
My New House Vibes board is full of neutrals, traditional styling, and more wood trim than I ever thought I’d be into (I know…I'm considering leaving it unpainted in this house!). Think cozy, classic, and a lot Nancy Meyers. Basically the kind of space that feels like a warm hug and smells faintly of fresh coffee and old books.
My Outside Inspo board is all about terra cotta tones, natural stone, and low-maintenance. We’ll have a pool at the new house so I’m leaning into earthy, relaxed vibes for the space around it. I’m not exactly a landscaping pro (my green thumb stops at indoor houseplants), but I’m excited to try! Any tips from my gardening friends will be welcomed!
And the dream has officially been realized… I’m finally getting a library space in the new house! It will also double as an office space. It’s a small but it has two tall built-in bookcases and two large closets, one of which I’m hoping to turn into a “cloffice” situation for extra function and charm. I’m planning to add some low shelves along one wall. And I have my eye on an upholstered daybed that will make the room extra cozy for reading or double as a guest spot when needed. Can you tell this is the space I’ve spent the most time dreaming about?
When I’m not pinning inspiration to Pinterest right now, I’m watching college baseball. College World Series season is one of my favorites. Around here, it’s all about the Arkansas Razorbacks! Here’s to hoping the Hogs make a deep run this year!
One of my favorite parts of the Bookstagram community is getting constant recommendations from fellow readers whose taste I trust. This month, I asked a few of my bookish friends to share their most recent 5-star read and why they loved it.
Feeling stuck on what to post in June? Here are a few bookish content ideas to get you going!
Reading Spots Tour
Show your favorite summer reading spots (backyard, hammock, coffee shop, etc). Bonus points if the lighting is dreamy and you’ve got an iced drink in hand!
National Start Over Day- June 5
Highlight books that are all about fresh starts or new beginnings. Think moving to a new town, big life changes, or emotional do-overs.
And in keeping with the chaotic theme of life (and this newsletter), here are a few very random things I’m loving lately:
This quilted tote bag from Amazon is adorable. I think quilted bags are making a comeback, and I’ve been eyeing this fun summer print.
These Target sandals? Listen… they are hands-down the comfiest and cutest pair I own. I’ve been wearing them nonstop. I also grabbed a similar black pair from Amazon, but they’re just not as comfy as the Target ones…they are the winners.
Do you have a signature home scent? I try to keep one year-round (with a little seasonal twist for the holidays), and this candle (plus the matching wax melts in my Scentsy) has been my go-to for a couple of years now. During our house showings, so many people commented on how amazing our home smelled.
Heads up! If you grab something through the Amazon links, I might earn a tiny commission—it helps keep my TBR stack happily growing! Sadly, Walmart and Target have no idea who I am… but if they’re reading this, I’m totally open to a commission deal.
Happy Reading!
